Events

We are available to run group workshops at your event, whether public or private, at schools or in colleges. From beginner’s introductory classes to private performances or even a more hands on learning experience about the kora and its origins – we can provide a rare and exciting experience to see this unique instrument in action.

Schools

FromSchool Kora Workshops - Calabash Drumming kindergarten/nursery to Year 13/IB students.

Example itinerary: an opening performance for large groups can then be followed as we take smaller groups or classes individually.

Let them explore and feel each of the koras components, learn about its history and traditions. For younger groups, engage them with the different sounds produced by the calabash or simple clapping rhythms. With older students, kora songs can be taught or their creativity encouraged to improvise or create compositions.

“The workshop was well organized, the teaching style gentle but clearly well informed, and the students incredibly well supported with ample instruments and multiple leaders to give individual attention. I’ll definitely keep you in mind for future workshops!”

During the interval or after the set, let your guests try their hand at this wonderful instrument.
