Derek Gripper

The first classical guitar scores of kora music – sheet music available to download, plus recordings of his work. Derek is introducing the complex music of the kora to another world of musicians.

Josh Doughty

Josh is Adam’s eldest son has been playing since he was around 7 yrs old, with Adam as his first teacher, then apprenticed to Toumani Diabate as a teenager. He is a highly respected professional kora player and teacher.  He works with us at our kora workshop in the south of France, and at WOMAD festival.

Kane Mathis

Based in the US, Kane is a professional kora and oud player.  He’s helped out and performed at some of our previous workshops in the UK.

Nic Kane

Nic is a UK-based photographer and director.  If you see a stunning photo on our site the chances are it will be one of Nic’s! She captures the light, character and beauty of people and places. We are very grateful for her generosity in allowing us to use the images.  @_nic_kane

Stu Moran

Stu has helped us update our website with list of queries flying backwards and forwards between his office in Bath and ours in Kafountine.   A great eye, explains clearly, and even better, he’s learning to play the kora!

Trevor Pollard

Trevor is a UK-based artist and a friend; he regularly comes to Kafountine to spend several months in the house that he has built within our land.   He started the Kafountine Lino Printing project and himself works in a variety of media, including lino and photography.

Tribal Earth

A lovely small festival in August near Laughton in East Sussex, UK with a variety of bands and music workshops – a great family event that raises money for various charities. We are there every year teaching kora.
