Aliou is based in Ziguinchor, he is an excellent player and a highly respected teacher, much in demand. He makes our kora bodies and also teaches at The Kora Workshop events in Kafountine. He was adopted when he was three years old by Jali Messin Cissokho who taught him how to make and play the Kora.
The koras he makes are skilfully and beautifully crafted. Having enjoyed art at school
he uses the pins not only to secure the skin onto the calabash but also to create
patterns that make each kora unique, yet always recognisably his. He has made Koras
for Seckou Keita, Filly Cissokho, Sadio Cissokho, Mamadou Ndiaye Cissokho, Maher
